The Oklahoma City Thunder might have a brand new duo worth watching.
We all need to keep our expectations in check because the Western Conference is still incredibly stacked and the season hasn’t even started (in fact, only one Summer League game has been played) but there are some promising signs coming out of OKC.
And their names are Chet Holmgren and Josh Giddey.

In their first game together, the pairing were all over the court and led their team to a 98-77 Summer League victory over the Utah Jazz.
Holmgren, the draft’s number two pick, made a lot of noise with 23 points (13 in the first nine minutes), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 blocks in just 24 minutes.
Meanwhile, last year’s Rookie of the Year contender Giddey had 14 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds.
Following the game, Holmgren had nothing but love for Giddey: “Just shout to my teammates for setting me up. Shout out to his guy right here, double double in points and assists.”
Holmgren and Giddey seem to be getting along very well so far – and that could be key to their success.
Thunder Up
Fans of the team were expecting great things from Holmgren considering he was such a high draft pick.
But they already knew they’d get something special from Giddey yet again because his opening season was so special.
With an average of 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists, Giddey was easily one of the best parts of this OKC team.
He broke records when it came to triple-doubles and he led his team in terms of energy and overall drive.
Now with Holmgren beside him, the potential for the Thunder is only growing.
They have a long way to go before they’re truly competitive against teams like the Phoenix Suns or Milwaukee Bucks but Oklahoma City is starting things off strongly this summer.
