The defending World Series champion Houston Astros and the Detroit Tigers engaged in a back-and-forth affair on Monday night.
Ultimately, it was the Tigers who came out on top by a final score of 7-6 after an 11-inning thriller.
But the night wasn’t devoid of exciting moments for Houston either.
In fact, Yordan Alvarez had a nice moment in front of the Houston faithful, tying the game with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.
The home run was also a big one for Alvarez, as it marked the 100th homer of his career.
On Twitter, MLB posted a cool graphic to celebrate Alvarez’s accomplishment.

Alvarez has certainly had a solid career thus far.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2019 as a rookie, he has hit for a .297 average, posted a 13.6 WAR, driven in 292 runs, and posted an OPS of .976.
He’s also earned a Rookie of the Year Award, a Silver Slugger Award, an All-Star nod, an ALCS MVP Award, and a World Series ring.
It wasn’t enough for the Astros to battle back and secure a come-from-behind win, but it was certainly a nice historic moment that fans in Houston got a chance to enjoy.
With Jose Altuve out, the Astros are going to need to rely heavily on Alvarez and other stars such as Alex Bregman, Jeremy Pena, Chas McCormick, and Kyle Tucker.
Alvarez has certainly provided a spark for the team ever since his arrival and is set up for yet another season of success in Houston.
