Yordan Alvarez Made Plenty Of Noise In His Return

The Houston Astros started out the second half of the 2022 MLB season on the right foot, as they took both games of a day-night doubleheader against the New York Yankees, the team with the best record in all of baseball.

Leading the way for the Astros was Yordan Alvarez, who had just been activated from the Injured List.

Alvarez was placed on the IL on July 10 with right hand inflammation.

But last night, he made his return and led the way for Houston, picking up two hits, one of them being a home run, and driving in three runs for the game.

After the game, the Astros tweeted a graphic which showed his stats as they declared him Player of the Game.

It’s good for the Astros to get one of their big bats back in the lineup, especially against a team like the Yankees.

A warm welcome back.

It’s Good To Be Back

It seems that he didn’t miss a beat while he was out.

Anytime you can go 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, you’re having yourself a pretty good night.

That is exactly what Alvarez did against the Yankees as the Astros won the final game of the doubleheader, 7-5.

The Astros are now creeping closer to the Yankees in the standings, as New York’s hold on the best record in all of baseball is starting to slip a little bit.

They now are just 2.5 games behind the Bronx Bombers for the best record.

And the Astros have Alvarez to thank for that.

There appeared to be no rust for Alvarez in his return from the IL.

He’s going to be a key factor if the Astros plan on catching the Yankees.
