The New York Yankees are going with an interesting trio in the outfield today for their spring training exhibition matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Normally it would be Joey Gallo in left field, Aaron Hicks in center field, and Aaron Judge in right field, with Giancarlo Stanton taking on designated hitter duties.
But for today, they’re going to do something a little bit different.
Hicks is starting in left, with Judge in center and Stanton in right.
Gallo is taking care of DH duties in today’s game against the Phillies.
Also, Josh Donaldson is hitting from the leadoff spot in the order.

Shuffling The Deck
This is an interesting lineup for the Yankees, especially considering that their outfielders are in different positions.
That isn’t a knock on what the Yankees are doing, it’s just kind of odd to see them in different spots.
But hey, it’s spring training.
If there’s ever a time to try out something new and experiment with different things, this would certainly be it.
Opening Day still isn’t for another week after all, but to be quite honest, it would be cool to see the Yankees try out this unconventional setup in the outfield when they host the Boston Red Sox on April 7.
Stanton has dealt with a ton of injuries over his time with the Yankees, so it’ll be interesting to see if him actually playing in the outfield will help him stay healthy.
We’ll see if the Yankees ultimately decide to try this out on Opening Day.
Changing can do a little good.
Perhaps shuffling everybody could produce some good results for New York in 2022.
But for now, enjoy their unconventional setup for today.
