There were no new power rankings released this week for Major League Baseball.

Instead, MLB decided to do something a little bit different.

They chose to release a list of World Series favorites.

It will come as no surprise to anybody that the New York Yankees are at the top of the list, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Houston Astros close behind.

The defending champion Atlanta Braves round out the top five, with the rest of the teams on the list being the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox, and Minnesota Twins, respectively.

MLB tweeted a top 10 list of World Series favorites to start the week.

Yanks Stay On Top

It’s no surprise to see the Bronx Bombers sitting at the top after what they’ve done thus far in 2022.

This is a good team that has defied many of the experts’ pre-season expectations.

Some were expecting the AL East to be a lot different than it is right now.

But lo and behold, here we are.

The Yankees are sitting at the top of the heap as usual.

The past two seasons have seen the Tampa Bay Rays ultimately win the AL East, but here the Yankees are looking to reverse that trend and earn their first AL East division crown since 2019.

New York has been buoyed by strong performances this season out of guys like Nestor Cortes, Aaron Judge, Matt Carpenter, Clay Holmes, Jose Trevino, and many others.

This is a complete team that has their sights set on winning title No. 28 this October.

There’s a long way to go, but the Yankees remain the overwhelming favorite to pull off yet another championship run.
