New York Yankees slugger Joey Gallo has gotten himself off to a miserable start in 2022.
He is hitting just .154 in 52 at-bats to start the season and has posted a poor .485 OPS.
But it’s never too late to fix things and break out of a slump.
In fact, Gallo finally hit his first home run of the season on Tuesday night in the Yankees’ 12-8 win in their series opener against the Baltimore Orioles.
As is tradition with players hitting their first home run, Gallo’s Yankee teammates had a little fun with him when he got back to the dugout.
They gave him the silent treatment at first before crowding him after he put his helmet down.

Gallo Busts Out
It’s always nice to see some fun had in MLB dugouts.
Baseball is a grind, and it can be frustrating.
But Gallo has had a rough season to this point, and it’s good to see his teammates having a little fun with him after breaking out of his slump.
It’s not uncommon for players to give their teammates the silent treatment for a brief moment after somebody has their first big moment of the season or of their careers, before ultimately swarming them with high fives and hugs.
The Yankees obviously know how frustrating things have been for Gallo thus far in 2022, so to hype him up, they had a little fun with their teammate and showed him some love in the best way possible, starting out with the silent treatment before an outpouring of support.
Gallo finally got the monkey off his back and managed to hit his first homer of the 2022 season.
It’s never too late to bust out of a slump.
