The New York Yankees might just be unstoppable.
Led by Jose Trevino and Aaron Judge, the Bronx Bombers picked up their 51st win of the 2022 season and improved to 51-18, holding firm as the best team in all of baseball.
They managed to take two out of three from their AL East rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays, with their 5-4 comeback win last night.
No team has been able to slow New York down at this point and Jon Morosi of MLB Network pointed out an interesting fact, that each time the Yankees have previously been 51-18 through 69 games, they’ve gone on to win the World Series.
The Yankees are 51-18.
Per @YankeesPR, they’ve had that record, or better, after 69 games on 3 previous occasions — 1939, 1928, 1998.
They won the World Series every time. @MLBNetwork @MLBStats

Championship Vibes
Are we going to see the Evil Empire pull off yet another championship?
There may not be any holdovers left from their last championship team, the 2009 squad.
But their goals certainly have remained the same.
It’s championship or bust in the Bronx.
That has been the mantra for so many years.
We might just see title No. 28 take place this October.
Nobody has been able to stop the Yankees or slow them down.
But the fact that each time they’ve been this good they went on to win the World Series is insane.
Of course, it’s not surprising.
This team may go wire to wire.
The way they have been playing indicates that a deep run into October may be on the horizon.
This is the team that you absolutely do not want to play in the postseason under any circumstances.
They’ve opened up a huge lead in the AL East and just keep on trucking along.
We’ll have to wait and see what the rest of the season brings, but as of now, the Yankees are championship favorites.
