Make no mistake: the New York Yankees have enjoyed an excellent offseason, perhaps the best one in recent years.
They re-signed star player and reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge, and they also brought back Anthony Rizzo to play first base and welcomed star pitcher Carlos Rodon.
Tommy Kahnle is also a nice bullpen addition.
The lineup, however, is not really improved in comparison to last season unless they replace Josh Donaldson with DJ LeMahieu and Isiah Kiner-Falefa with Oswald Peraza.
Left field remains a problematic area, too.
The struggling Aaron Hicks is an option to play, but he hasn’t been good for two years in a row.
Playing super-utility Oswaldo Cabrera there is an option, too.
However, the Yankees say their offseason is not necessarily done.
“How will the @Yankees fill their hole in Left Field? Aaron Boone gives his thoughts on the possibility that New York could bring in someone from outside of the organization,” MLB Network Radio tweeted.

Manager Aaron Boone said that the Yankees’ front office is “hard at work” trying to make potentially different things happen.
At this point, there aren’t many options in free agency that would be considered “difference-makers”.
Perhaps Jurickson Profar or Andrew McCutchen could work, but the Yankees could be better off handing the job to Cabrera instead.
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds, who has hit 51 home runs over the last two seasons, would move the needle, though.
The Pirates are asking a lot in return, however, and the Yankees are also competing with the Texas Rangers for his services.
New York is running out of time, that’s for sure.
What will they do in left field?
