Jasson Dominguez is moving from High-A Hudson Valley to Double-A Somerset, his second promotion of the year.
The 19-year-old phenom opened the year in Low-A Tampa, where he struggled for a handful of games.
The Yankees coaching and player development staff worked hard with him, and he improved to the point in which he posted a .265/.373/.440 line with nine home runs and 19 steals in 324 plate appearances.
He was then promoted to High-A, where he was one of the youngest players.
He Shined At Every Level
There, he slashed .306/.397/.510 with six round-trippers and 17 steals in 184 trips to the plate.
Dominguez is the Yankees’ second-best prospect and MLB’s number 42, so his progress this year has been the object of a lot of media attention.
His ability to make adjustments and be among the best players of each league has played in has earned him rave reviews.
For the year, he has 15 home runs and 36 stolen bases, and once he reaches his full potential, those numbers could very well rise.
Playing in Double-A will prove to be the biggest challenge of Dominguez’s career to this point.
The jump in talent from High-A to Double-A is significant, so he will need to make more adjustments against pitchers with higher velocity, better breaking stuff, and more control.
It’s time to shine for Dominguez… again.
