New York Yankees relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle has been dealing with a case of right biceps tendinitis since early March.
He has already been ruled out for Opening Day, much like Frankie Montas, Carlos Rodon, Harrison Bader, and other Yankees players.
However, his absence is not expected to be too long.
He is at least expected back earlier than all those names.
The updates from the Yankees camp indicate he is trending in the right direction, but needed a cortisone shot.
“Tommy Kahnle received a cortisone injection yesterday for his biceps tendinitis, per Boone. He’ll be down a few more days before the Yankees hope to start ramping him back up,” Yankees insider Greg Joyce tweeted.

Tendinitis injuries require some caution and rest time, so it’s important not to hurry him back to the action before he is actually ready.
These things usually take some time.
However, there is a chance that his arm responds well to the injection and he is able to restart a throwing program in the next few days.
He will need to complete a series of steps before the Yankees even think about putting him on the active roster.
Playing catch, throwing bullpens, live batting practice, and a couple of rehabs games sounds like the way to go for Kahnle.
The right-hander is badly needed in the Yanks’ bullpen.
He overcame injury issues to throw 12.2 brilliant innings with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022, in which he had a 2.84 ERA and a 0.63 WHIP.
The Yanks could use his marvelous changeup and excellent results in the back of the bullpen.
