New York Yankees starter Luis Severino had to be removed from Wednesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds due to right shoulder tightness.
He could only throw two innings: heading to the third, he returned to the dugout after a few warmup pitches.
Before being taken out, Severino had given up four runs on four hits and a pair of walks, including three consecutive home runs.
It was evident something was not right with him.
Doctors already examined him and sent him for an MRI exam on Thursday.
No update yet on Luis Severino, who will have his MRI later today, according to Brian Cashman.

Depending on what the doctors find in the MRI, we could be talking about something that requires rest and a two or three-week absence, or a season-ending injury.
The Yankees Have No Choice But To Wait For The MRI
With the range of outcomes being so wide, we will have no choice but to wait on the results of the MRI, which should be published within the next 36 hours.
Severino has been bitten hard by injuries since 2019, and just when he was starting to show the form that made him one of the best pitchers in the American League in 2017 and 2018, he goes down again.
This year, his ERA stands at 3.45.
In 16 starts and 86 innings, he has compiled a 5-3 record with 95 and a solid 1.07 WHIP.
Together with Gerrit Cole, Jordan Montgomery, Nestor Cortes Jr., and Jameson Taillon, Severino was part of one of the most consistently dominant rotations in baseball.
The unit had remained healthy for the most part up until this point, so this is the first major injury to one of the Yankees starters in 2022.
The organization has Domingo German ready to take a rotation spot, but the downgrade from Severino to him is significant.
