The New York Yankees are on a roll: they are the hottest team in baseball and have an amazing 22-8 record in their first 30 games.
They have been playing some of their best baseball of recent seasons, and look poised to make the playoffs.
Can they advance to the World Series, though?
The Yanks haven’t gone to the Fall Classic since 2009, when they won the trophy against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Ever since then, they have mostly qualified to play October baseball, but the furthest they have gone has been the AL Championship Series in a couple of occasions.
Could this year be different?
Numbers Are On The Yankees’ Side
There is an encouraging stat that says they will, at least, win the AL pennant.
“Every time the @Yankees have won at least 22 out of their first 30 games, they’ve made the World Series,” the league’s official site tweeted on Thursday.

Per MLB, the Yankees have won 22 out of their first 30 games in nine occasions throughout history, including 2022.
The remaining eight are 1923, 1928, 1932, 1939, 1950, 1958, 1998, and 2003.
Of those years, they won the ring in 1928, 1932, 1939, 1950, 1958, and 1998: six times.
They dropped the 1923 and 2003 World Series.
Yes, it’s still too early to be having these kind of talks about a team going to the World Series or not, but it’s just a noteworthy fact about their chances when they win as many games in the early stages.
They still have to go through prolonged slumps, injuries, suspensions, demotions, trades, designations for assignment, competition, and many other things.
But that the Yankees are playing at a really high level can’t be denied.
Fans dream about seeing them lifting the trophy, but only time will tell.
