The New York Mets were dealt a tough blow on Tuesday when it was revealed that talks had fallen apart with star shortstop Carlos Correa.
Just as the Mets had done with the San Francisco Giants, the Minnesota Twins swooped in at the last second and stole Correa away.
The deal is worth six years and $200 million and could reach $270 million with a vesting option.
Mets fans are enraged, as you can imagine.
Meanwhile, fans of the New York Yankees are having quite the field day roasting the Mets.
On Twitter, one Yankees fan took a lot of pleasure in trolling the Mets after their misfortune.
New gold standard for baseball in New York 😂 foh. Yankees never even entertained Carlos Correa. Last year or this year. Ya look lame. Its ok. You'll be ok but we get to laugh at you and troll you today. The more things change the more they stay the same. LOL Mets #SoMets #Metsy

It’s safe to say that today is a fun day for Yankees fans.
Granted, the Mets are still quite stacked and look to be the World Series favorites entering the 2023 season.
Still, it’s just another reason for Yankees fans to celebrate today.
Now, they can rub it in after the Mets ultimately failed to secure the services of the two-time All-Star.
And this isn’t even the first time Yankees fans have been able to celebrate something like this.
MLB insider Jon Heyman had jumped the gun by saying Aaron Judge had signed with the Giants, but had a now famous typo in his tweet, which then read “Arson Judge.”
Hours later, Heyman’s report was debunked and the Yankees ultimately re-signed Judge.
So, at the very least, this situation with Correa lasted longer than the “Arson Judge” incident, which only lasted for a few minutes.
