Announcing is a tough job, whether you’re on the radio or on live television.
You have to be on high alert and pay close attention to every last detail while watching the game.
You have to do your best to be nearly perfect every time you call a game from the broadcast booth.
New York Yankees radio broadcaster John Sterling is one of the most well-respected broadcasters in all of baseball, but even he is not immune to making a mistake here or there.
When Giancarlo Stanton robbed Matt Chapman of a home run, Sterling almost got the call right.
He was about to say it was caught, but then he thought the ball was gone and was confused as to why Chapman wasn’t rounding the bases.

Happens To The Best Of Us
This is absolutely hilarious.
There’s got to be a part of some people that felt a little sorry for Sterling, but at the same time, it was pretty funny.
Even the best announcers have their fair share of blunders.
Sterling had his last night.
The best part was when he asked, “Why are they waiting?” and color commentator Suzyn Waldman replied with, “Because Stanton caught the ball.”
We’ve all been there at least once in our lives, but poor Sterling had his blunder on the air.
Still, that was some solid entertainment.
It happens.
Even the best in the business make some mistakes here and there and Sterling happened to have his take place while he was broadcasting.
But it doesn’t take away from how funny it must’ve been for people listening to the game.
You really can’t make this stuff up.
