The rough start of the Boston Red Sox is definitely a thing of the past.

They were under .500 for several weeks, but have been hot for a while and are now second in the AL East division with a 43-33 record heading into Thursday.

The New York Yankees, meanwhile, have the best record in baseball at 56-20, 13 games better than the Red Sox.

The teams have been particularly good in June, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

“The Yankees and Red Sox are the first pair of teams from the same division ever to post a .750+ winning percentage in the same calendar month (min. 15 games). The Red Sox finish June at 20-6 (.769) and the Yankees can do no worse than 22-6 (.786),” they tweeted.

A .750 Winning Percentage Is Awfully Impressive

A .750 winning percentage means being victorious in 3/4 of the games they play: that’s a lot, and it requires a lot of skill and a bit of luck.

The Yankees and Red Sox are both excellent baseball clubs, and there might not be such a big gap between them, at least not as big as the standings suggest.

The Red Sox may have started off the year on the wrong foot, but players have evolved and improved since then, and are now close to the Yankees’ level.

Both teams are among the best in the American League: the Yankees are clearly the gold standard, with an eight-game lead over the second-placed team in MLB, the Houston Astros; but the Red Sox are a really solid ballclub that may pose a huge challenge for whoever gets in their way.

Additionally, the Red Sox will soon get Chris Sale and James Paxton back, which is definitely not insignificant.

Both teams have incredible performances in June and are officially the hottest squads in the league.
