On Thursday, the New York Yankees were hit was some unfortunate news.
Left-hander Carlos Rodon, who signed with the team on a six-year, $162 million deal this past winter, will be beginning the season on the injured list due to a left forearm strain.
New York now has two starters on the injured list to start the 2023 season, as right-hander Frankie Montas is dealing with a shoulder issue that will cost him significant time this season.
On Twitter, Yankees analyst Jimmy Randazzo commented on the injury to Rodon and what it means for the Yankees, expressing his disappointment with the situation.
The Yankees already have 2 of their starters on the IL. Carlos Rodon was supposed to be the reason New York took the next step this season. I know the initial reports are not bad but forearm issues are never good. This sucks.

Fortunately, the reports on Rodon aren’t bad at the moment, as Randazzo alluded to.
However, a forearm issue is never a good thing for a pitcher.
Rodon has dealt with more than his fair share of injuries over the course of his career, with this being the latest setback.
And so, Yankees fans are preparing for the worst with Rodon.
Often times, what may seem like a minor injury ultimately worsens over time.
Any time a pitcher deals with an arm injury, it’s a major setback.
As of now, Rodon is expected to return in mid to late April, but with arm injuries, it’s hard to predict a timetable, and it could be a while before we see the veteran left-hander make his Yankees debut.
For now, the Yankees still have Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes, and Luis Severino in their rotation, and also have options such as Domingo German and Deivi Garcia.
