Yankees Already On A Record Pace In 2022

At 19-8, the New York Yankees have the best record in the American League even after splitting Sunday’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers.

Not only that, but they also have the best run differential of the junior circuit, at +48, and are second in MLB behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+74).

Things are going well in the Bronx despite the team being surprisingly passive during the offseason.

With an opening at shortstop, they opted to pass on the five big free agents at the position – Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Trevor Story, Marcus Semien, and Javier Baez – and instead traded for Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

With some serious work from the player himself and some guidance from Yankees coaches, Kiner-Falefa has been a passable hitter and an asset defensively.

The pitching has been lights-out, especially the bullpen, with a really strong rotation that has everyone in ace form.

Even DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres, who struggled in 2021, are back to being productive hitters thanks to the help of new hitting coach Dillon Lawson.

An Incredible Job By The Yankees

Overall, the organization has done a terrific job at all levels.

As a result, they are on a historic pace.

“With a .704 winning percentage, the #Yankees are currently on pace to win 114 games. That’s the same win total of the ‘98 club, the best Yanks team of our lifetimes,” Yankees’ beat writer for MLB.com Bryan Hoch tweeted.

The 1998 Yankees won the World Series and finished the regular season with a 114-48 record.

Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, Mariano Rivera, and many others were on that excellent team.

Yankees fans obviously hope that the 2022 version of the team can have that same fate as the 1998 edition.

It’s still early, but the Yanks are looking good.
