Will Missing Davante Adams Affect Green Bay’s Playoff Chances?

The Green Bay Packers enter the 2022 NFL season without their best wide receiver, Davante Adams.

Adams was sent to Las Vegas in a trade, after stating he wouldn’t play under the team’s franchise tag.

This now leaves Green Bay without their best receiver, which could threaten their playoff hopes.

However, the team is hoping four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers can get them there without Adams.

But can he do it, or was the five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Packers the key to their playoff hopes?

Adams Accounted For Around One-Third Of Rodgers Passing Stats

Losing Adams will become a tremendous blow to the Packers’ offense.

Over the last two seasons, his receiving numbers made up around one-third of Rodgers’ passing stats.

It also helped him win two consecutive MVP titles at the quarterback position.

So without a threat like Adams on the team, it will be difficult for him to get his third MVP in a row.

It also puts a dent in the Packers’ playoff hopes by losing someone that produces like Adams.

However, the Packers are hoping their quarterback can do it without his star receiver.

But they at least got him some help to replace that cornerstone of the Packers’ receiving core.

Sammy Watkins And Rookie Draft Picks Are Packers Replacements For Adams

One player isn’t enough to replace the five-time Pro Bowl receiver they lost.

Green Bay needs multiple receivers to replace him, which they got during the NFL Draft and free agency.

With Sammy Watkins, the team hopes he can have a 1,000-yard season, something Adams would do with ease.

However, over his career, he’s only had one 1,000-yard receiving year.

Even playing with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City never got him a 1,000-yard year.

His best season came during his second season in the league, and with the Buffalo Bills in 2015.

But if he can’t step up and get 1,000+ receiving yards, the Packers have other receivers.

Those other receivers are draft picks Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure.

However, of that group, only Watson is projected to see a spot in the starting lineup.

So are the Packers truly doomed with these receivers and without Adams?

Packers Fans Believe Rodgers Can Turn These Players Into Stars

If you ask any Green Bay Packer fan if they are doomed, they will tell you their team is making the playoffs.

They feel their quarterback can make a star out of any receiver that he plays with.

That’s what they believe happened with Adams.

However, they are wrong.

Adams has broken NCAA football records, records that he still holds nearly a decade later.

So Rodgers didn’t make Adams into the superstar receiver that he is today.

He was already that superstar when he stepped foot into Green Bay.

So while the fans of Green Bay feel they will still make the playoffs, they haven’t seen the tape of Adams during his college years.

That’s why Green Bay might have some trouble going into 2022 without him playing on their team.
