The New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles shook up the 2022 NFL Draft with their trade this week.
Both teams agreed on a trade that involved eight draft picks in total.
New Orleans gets the 16th and 19th overall picks in the first round along with a sixth-round pick.
Philadelphia gets the 18th overall pick in the first round, a third-round, and a seventh-round pick in this year’s draft.
They also get the 2023 first-round and 2024 second-round picks from the Saints in the trade.
When looking at draft picks, the Eagles get more picks.
However, that’s not how you measure who won the draft trade.
A further breakdown is needed to see who really won the trade deal.
Are The Eagles Looking To Replace Jalen Hurts?
Jalen Hurts helped lead the team to the NFL playoffs last season as his first full season as quarterback.
However, his numbers aren’t awe inspiring for a team looking for a steady quarterback.
The 2022 draft class for quarterbacks isn’t the greatest, with people saying 2023 promises to have better quarterbacks.
Agreed. + this quarterback class is bad and if mills is Not the Future you can pick a lot of better qurterbacks in the 2023 draft

The 2023 NFL Draft would be the best time to draft a quarterback.
It is also the year that Hurts’ rookie contract is up.
It will depend on how the Saints do in 2022 to see what spot the 2023 pick lands the Eagles.
If they wish to ditch Hurts and draft a new quarterback in 2023, they now have two picks to work with if they need to move up.
Is Philadelphia Looking To Build Around Hurts?
The other angle is the Eagles could try to build around the young quarterback.
They have the draft capital for that in 2022 and 2023.
The trade didn’t hurt the Eagles for this year, they still have two picks in the first round.
However, the trade gave them more options for later on in the future for the team and Hurts.
With better receivers, Hurts might have better numbers in his future.
Why Do The Saints Want Two First-Round Picks In 2022?
There are two likely reasons behind wanting two picks in 2022.
First, they could use the two picks to fill the hole at offensive tackle and wide receiver they have.
Offensive tackle Trevor Penning would be a great replacement for the now departed Terron Armstead.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson can help quarterback Jameis Winston in the passing game.
The Saints weren’t able to do much in free agency this year, which makes drafting in 2022 important for them.
However, the Saints could use the two picks to trade up for a quarterback.

They tried to get Deshaun Watson earlier in the year before he was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
So them using these two picks from the Eagles to get a quarterback could happen.
Until draft day comes, we won’t know who the Saints and Eagles will get with those draft picks.
The picks will determine who ultimately won the trade deal.
While the Eagles win on paper with the trade, we won’t see the true outcome until the 2022 season begins.
