
Early last month, the Chicago White Sox and the entire MLB community learned some sad news when it was announced that veteran closer Liam Hendriks had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
The baseball world was shocked by this sad news and immediately began to rally around the right-hander.
Today is the three-time All-Star and two-time Reliever of the Year’s birthday.
The right-hander is turning 34.
On Twitter, the White Sox posted a heartfelt message in support of their All-Star closer and also shared some clips of fans wishing the veteran right-hander a speedy recovery as he battles through these tough times.

Hendriks has always been well loved around the game.
So when the news hit that he had fallen ill, the baseball world was shocked and saddened, but also made sure that Hendriks knew he had their full support in such a tough time.
One fan thanked him for being very outspoken about the issues that are important to him, while also praising him for being a great pitcher and person.
Another fan who was a cancer survivor made sure Hendriks knew that he was rooting for him and wishing him the best.
Other fans shared their messages of kindness, referring to him as a warrior and an inspiration, with one fan expressing what it’s like to see Hendriks pitch and how waiting through the whole game is worth it to see him enter and finish things off.
The fans closed out their message by telling him to stay strong and to “go get ’em.”
