Ever since Miguel Cairo took the managerial reins for the Chicago White Sox in an interim capacity, thanks to Tony La Russa‘s absence, the team has been on quite a spirited run.
After an underwhelming five months, the South Siders have kicked it into gear in the month of September, coming to within three games of the first place Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central.
The team seems to have a little new life under Cairo.
Closer Liam Hendriks seems to think so.
Hendriks revealed that Cairo had given them an important message when he took over, one that lit a fire under the team and got them going.

Cairo Lights A Fire Under White Sox
Whatever works, right?
Cairo made himself perfectly clear with this message.
We, of course, can’t say exactly what he said here.
This is a family show.
But it sounds like Cairo’s message was very direct and it got this team going again.
While the Guardians have a three-game advantage, the White Sox have been nipping at their heels and look like they could ultimately wrestle the division away from them at some point.
There are three weeks left in the season, so there is time, but time is running out.
Cairo might just be the guy that ends up leading this club in the near future.
He clearly found a way to motivate the team and get them going in the right direction again.
While still three games back, they still have a decent shot to take hold of first place and secure their second consecutive AL Central title.
Sometimes, a new voice or one simple message can change things for the better.
That seems to be the case with the White Sox.
