The Chicago White Sox have found themselves in a tough spot after news of domestic violence allegations against their latest pitching addition, veteran starter Mike Clevinger, came to light.
The team signed him to a one-year, $12 million deal back in November to fill a hole in their rotation.
Unfortunately, the news of the allegations against Clevinger broke after the Miami Marlins had signed Johnny Cueto, who had been a key piece of the team’s rotation in 2022.
On Twitter, a White Sox fan proposed a potential solution, noting that Michael Wacha is still out on the free agent market and waiting to be signed.
White Sox should void the Clevinger deal and go give the money to Michael Wacha

More than likely, the White Sox won’t be able to void the Clevinger contract.
But if he does face discipline and is unable to pitch as a result, then the team could potentially pivot to Wacha, who enjoyed a strong season with the Boston Red Sox, winning 11 games and posting a 3.32 ERA in 23 starts.
He could be an asset to a team that already has Dylan Cease, Lance Lynn, and Lucas Giolito in their rotation, which could potentially be the strength of the team if all goes according to plan and everybody stays healthy.
But it isn’t a bad idea for the White Sox to make the move as a way to prepare for a certain period of time without Clevinger, if that indeed comes to pass.
It would also be a nice way to respond to the Minnesota Twins picking up Pablo Lopez from the Miami Marlins.
