Chicago White Sox fans were shocked to learn on Tuesday that Mike Clevinger, their newly-signed veteran right-hander, was under investigation by Major League Baseball due to allegations of domestic violence, including child abuse.
The team had signed the 33-year-old to a one-year, $12 million contract at the beginning of the offseason to fill a hole in their starting rotation.
Now that Johnny Cueto has departed for the Miami Marlins, the White Sox are in a tough position.
But White Sox fans aren’t exactly feeling sorry for the front office.
One fan took a direct shot at the organization for not only signing Clevinger while being aware of the allegations against him, but also hiring former manager Tony La Russa after a second DUI charge.
Folks, the #WhiteSox canceled Soxfest before Clevinger signed. Jerry refusing to say why has led to fan speculation, which made it worse. The Sox are an unserious organization led by a stubborn man who hired his retired friend with a DUI and still employs his incompetent GM

The fan made it clear that it seems to him like the White Sox are alienating their fans and that it’s getting harder to cheer for them.
In addition to that, the White Sox’s only major addition this offseason was the signing of outfielder Andrew Benintendi.
Aside from that move, the South Siders have been relatively quiet, and have drawn the ire of their fanbase for more reasons than one.
Not only have they been quiet, but fans are also frustrated with them for essentially enabling poor behavior, such as that allegedly exhibited by Clevinger.
It’s obvious that fans are frustrated with the White Sox ownership group and front office for multiple reasons, and the news of the allegations against the newly-signed Clevinger only makes matters worse for them.
