The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to build on their 2022 season which saw them win the National League.
After signing Trea Turner, Taijuan Walker, Craig Kimbrel, and trading for Gregory Soto, the Phillies have reloaded.
But, they have a few young players who are ready to break out this upcoming season.
Both are young infielders that will be starters in the 2023 Phillies lineup.
Those players are third baseman Alec Bohm, and shortstop Bryson Stott.
Starting with Bohm, he is 26 years old and entering his fourth MLB season.
Through his first three seasons, Bohm has yet to develop his power.
He set a career-high with 13 home runs last year and has hit 24 in 311 career games.

Bohm is the unquestioned starter at third base, but he must play better defense.
He was terrible on defense last season with a team-low -17 defensive runs saved.
Also, Bohm needs to get on-base more.
He had 31 walks in each of the past two seasons, with his 2022 OBP of .315.
The breakout of Bohm in 2023, could help push the Phillies over the top.
Starting at second base this upcoming season will be Bryson Stott.
Entering his second MLB season, Stott is expected to improve in almost every category.
He batted .234 last season with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs.
One aspect of Stott’s game that was impressive was his batting average against lefties.
He hit a .263 against lefties while only a .226 against righties.
For any left-handed hitter to have success against lefties is always a good sign.

Stott was also substantially better over the second half of the season.
He hit .276 over the second half after an abysmal start to his MLB career (.188 first-half average).
Stott recorded -5 defensive runs saved last season, but he played 77 games at shortstop.
Playing a full season at second base should help Stott’s defensive production.
Overall, the development of these two young players will be key to the success of the 2023 Phillies.
