The Golden State Warriors entered the season in a somewhat complicated spot.
They’re the reigning NBA champions and have one of the best starting lineups in the league.
However, they also lost some of their key pieces from the championship team, and have struggled to be at their best throughout the whole season.
Also, despite being one of the strongest teams at home, they’ve been mostly terrible away from the Bay area, so their record is far less impressive than they expected at this point in the season.
That’s why fans and analysts speculate whether they’ll be active in trade talks before the deadline, but GM Bob Myers believes it won’t be all that easy:
“You’re seeing the parity. That’s what’s complicating this deadline. Many teams are doing what we’re doing, asking themselves, ‘Well how good are we?'” Myers told 95.7 The Game. “I’ve talked to a lot of GM’s and I ask what they’re trying to do. They’re like, “I don’t even know what to do. I think we’re good enough, but we’re .500.’ That’s unique…This year is different because there are less sellers…”

Of course, the Warriors could potentially make a better offer than several buyers, as they have three promising young players like Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, and James Wiseman.
Nonetheless, the Warriors’ front office has been reluctant to move any of their youngins, and would only consider that if they could get a star-caliber player in return.
There’s also a slim chance the Warriors considering moving on from either Jordan Poole or Draymond Green.
Still, that seems unlikely, as they just signed Poole to a huge extension, and he’s considered the future of the dynasty.
As for Green, he’s unlikely to get the contract extension he’s looking for, but trading him now could put an end to their chances of going the distance again this season.
All things considered, I wouldn’t want to be in Bob Myers’ shoes right now.
