Let’s start with the obvious: Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. annihilated the New York Yankees on Wednesday night.
He produced more than 1,000 feet of batted ball distance last night, with three home runs and a double.
He went 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI, and if it wasn’t for him, the Jays clearly would have lost the game.
Now, the most impressive part: Guerrero did all that with an injured finger.
“Vladimir Guerrero Jr. received two stitches in his finger after tonight’s game. He was in some discomfort when it was wrapped initially but isn’t concerned about the injury going forward. He said the finger wasn’t bothering him during his at-bats, as you might’ve guessed,” Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling tweeted.

The finger injury occurred after his first home run, and before the last two.
Not Even Finger Stitches Could Stop Guerrero
It was a gruesome injury: we won’t post any pictures here because it was really bad (bloody bad, to be clear), but even though Guerrero received the stitches and was in obvious pain when he was being treated by the Jays’ trainer, he overcame the discomfort to keep playing… and get two more big flies.
If he managed to do that with such a damaged finger, imagine what he would have done if there was no injury at all.
Kidding aside, we really hope his finger returns to full health and he doesn’t have to miss any games, because watching him play is a joy.
He is one of the most talented hitters in MLB, together with Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Ronald Acuna Jr., Shohei Ohtani, and Mike Trout.
If he remains healthy for most of the season, Guerrero will, once again, contend for the MVP.
