The Detroit Pistons haven’t had a lot of fun on the court this season.
Dwane Casey’s team entered the campaign with high hopes and expectations after a near-perfect offseason, but that hasn’t translated into many wins.
That’s why it was kind of wholesome to see the squad laughing and celebrating during their photo op in Paris ahead of the 2023 NBA Paris Games, where they’ll face the Chicago Bulls.

The Pistons put together one of the most promising young cores in the Association.
Jaden Ivey, Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes, and Marvin Bagley III could wind up being one of the dynasties of the future.
But Cunningham’s season-ending injury complicated what was expected to be a much better season from the Pistons, putting a way-too-early end to their aspirations of at least making it to the play-in tournament.
Now, speculation around the league has them as potential sellers ahead of the trade deadline, with Bojan Bogdanovic, Nerlens Noel, and Alec Burks as the likeliest candidates to be dealt at some point in the campaign.
Also, there have been some doubts about coach Casey’s ability to develop and unleash this unit’s true potential, especially considering he’s failed to establish his strong and gritty defensive identity after years in charge of the team.
So, all things considered, this Paris game might as well be the highlight of the 2022-23 Detroit Pistons season, but at least they’re looking at another potential top-3 pick in the upcoming draft, with Victor Wembanyama as the ultimate price.
