
On Wednesday, Team Cuba achieved an important milestone in the World Baseball Classic, defeating Team Australia by a final of 4-3.
The win ensures that Cuba will advance to the semifinals of this legendary MLB event.
Meanwhile, Team Australia is headed home.
Leading the way for Cuba was Chicago White Sox star Yoan Moncada, who picked up two hits.
His White Sox teammate Luis Robert and designated hitter Alfredo Despaigne each drove in a run while outfielder Yoelkis Guibert drove in two.

After the final out, Team Cuba rushed the field, celebrating and creating a memorable scene on the mound as they raised the Cuban flag with pride.
The WBC is always full of such memorable moments.
For Cuba, it marked the first time they have advanced to the semifinals since all the way back in 2006.
Right-hander Miguel Romero earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two batters in 1.2 innings of work.
Righty Raidel Martinez closed out the Aussies on Wednesday to send Cuba back to the semifinals for the first time in 17 years.
Cuba will match up against the winner of the third quarterfinal game between Venezuela and the runner-up in Pool C.
That game will get underway on Sunday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and will air on FOX Sports 1.
