On Tuesday, it was revealed that the New York Mets were calling up top prospect Brett Baty.
With Luis Guillorme‘s recent injury, the Mets needed someone to replace him, and Baty is the name.
He will be active for Wednesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves.
It’s not hard to see the Mets handing third-base duties to Baty in light of Guillorme’s injury.
Actually, since he is a 22-year-old prospect needing everyday at-bats, it wouldn’t make sense to call him up if he wasn’t going to play at least semi-regularly.
Baty was the 12th overall selection in the 2019 MLB Draft out of a high school in Texas.
Between Double-A and Triple-A, he has slashed .315/.410/.533 with 19 home runs and 22 doubles in 95 games.
An Impressive Hitting Profile With Serious Raw Power
At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, it’s pretty clear that Baty has some serious raw power.
He is yet to show all of it in games, but as his 19 round-trippers indicate, he is giving us all a glimpse of it.
The player is already in Atlanta, and SNY, a network that follows the Mets everywhere, has a short video of him.

Baty has only played six games in Triple-A, but the Mets are confident he can provide solutions to the major league team.
In the Mets, he is joining one of the best teams in MLB, one that will likely help him play to the best of his potential.
He is talented enough to be a regular at the hot corner for at least the next half decade, but he will need to show that he can adjust from Triple-A pitching to facing the best pitchers in the world.
Fans have a lot of faith in him.
