The Los Angeles Chargers have been on the verge of playoff contention over the past two seasons.
Their resurgence coincided with the emergence of quarterback Justin Herbert.
Rashawn Slater is also doing a fantastic job protecting Herbert’s blind side.
They’ve also made James the highest-paid safety via a four-year, $76.5 million extension.
It looks like it’s all systems go for the Chargers as they try to compete in the hotly-contested AFC.
If that’s the case, Herbert and Allen are working well together.

In their joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys, Herbert easily found Allen off play action.
The 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year zipped a pass through Trevon Diggs that Allen easily caught.
Allen tapped Diggs on his helmet before jogging off the field.
Completing more of those passes will translate to success for the Chargers.
Last season, Allen finished with 1,138 yards and six touchdowns.
Another 1,000-yard season gives him six for his career.
Chargers On The Rise
With the superb talent on both sides of the ball, the Chargers have no excuse but to execute.
Brandon Staley will remain aggressive with his decisions and his offense must respond accordingly.
However, it will be an uphill battle in their division alone as they face the Denver Broncos with Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson.
Going through this gauntlet will make it easier for the Chargers to succeed.
