The Minnesota Twins made sure to move quickly in the last 36 hours or so to close the signing of star shortstop Carlos Correa.
The New York Mets were pulling out of the race, and there was always the possibility of some mystery team joining the bidding.
It all happened faster than the blink of an eye on Tuesday.
Seeing how the Mets were only willing to get to six years and just below $160 million, the Twins offered $200 million and a chance to make an additional $70 via vesting options.
That was enough to seal the deal.
In less than two days, they have agreed to the terms of the deal, booked the physical, performed it, and introduced him to the media.
During the introductory press conference, the star infielder tried on the Twins’ new jersey for the 2023 campaign.
It was clear, by his comments, smiles, and gestures, that he really likes the uniform design.

Getting Correa was huge for the Twins.
They wanted to leave no doubt out there that Correa is going to play for them for, at least, the next six seasons.
Minnesota is evidently OK with the leg/ankle issues that derailed previous, much more lucrative agreements with the San Francisco Giants and the Mets.
The Twins had him last season and got to see from up close the type of player he is.
Correa can hit for average and power, is clutch, can move his legs and is an elite fielder.
On top of that, he is a postseason hero and a legend in Houston.
