In MLB, there are several kinds of fans, and several kinds of players.
There are supporters who prefer to admire players from afar, and there are those who would go out of their way to catch their attention.
The same goes for players: some of them will ask fans for money in exchange of signing something, and some of them will go out of their way to satisfy their loyal fans.
Two-time NL MVP Bryce Harper, the star of the Philadelphia Phillies, thankfully belongs to the second group.
“Bryce Harper with the ultimate sacrifice: walking around the airport with one shoe because he gave one up, all to sign an autograph for a fan,” Sporting News tweeted with a video.

In the short clip, we can see Harper walking around at the airport with just one shoe.
He gave the other one to a fan.
Talk about a player who knows how to please his supporters!
Harper has understood that fans are a key cog in the MLB industry.
They dedicate their time and money to support their favorite players, and he wanted to give something back with that in mind.
It was a cool gesture, and a fun story for spring training.
Harper will be somewhat limited in the spring and won’t be playing in any games soon.
He underwent Tommy John surgery to address the ulnar collateral ligament tear in his right elbow in November.
According to Phillies president Dave Dombrowski, Harper should start swinging a bat by the end of March.
He is expected to return around the All-Star break.
Will the Phillies be in the playoff hunt by that time?
