The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Tuesday.
The final score of 5-1 reflects how dominant the Yankees’ pitching was, starting with Nestor Cortes and his excellent performance on three days rest.
The victory helped the Yanks eliminate the Guardians and make it to the Championship Series against the Houston Astros.
That series will begin today but before the Yankees got on the plane, there was a little time to celebrate.
Champagne, beer, glasses, and overall excitement were all over the scene at Yankee Stadium.
Players were seen screaming and dancing around.
Gerrit Cole, however, gifted us one of the most hilarious moments of the playoffs.
“The most unintentionally hilarious person on Earth,” Twitter user @YankeeWRLD tweeted with a video of Cole, dead serious, throwing some beer at a teammate like a priest throws some holy water in a baptism.

Effusive Or Not, He Is An Ace
If you follow the Yankees or have seen interviews with Cole, you know that he is not particularly effusive.
However, this video was peak Cole: a bit awkward, but unquestionably funny because of that.
Awkward or not, he was the Yankees’ best performer in the ALDS against Cleveland.
He won two of the three games and pitched 13.1 innings of a 2.03 ERA.
He walked just two hitters and struck out 16 in the series.
If that wasn’t enough, the pitcher told his manager Aaron Boone that he was available for a relief appearance in Game 5 with just one day of rest.
He even warmed up to enter on Tuesday, but it wasn’t necessary in the end.
With Cole in top form, the Yankees hope to stun the Astros.
