Like all NBA players, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs wants to win a championship.
However, he knows it might take some time – and he’s okay with that.
Speaking to L’Equipe, via ESPN, Wembanyama got honest about winning it all:
“It’s no secret that it’s hard to win a ring. But I’m patient, and I know it will happen. Not winning my first few years is no barrier to becoming a Hall of Famer or winning five [rings] later.”

Wembanyama is very smart thinking this way.
Fans of the Spurs should also keep this in mind.
Wembanyama is unquestionably the most exciting rookie to come into the NBA in years and the possibilities around him are truly immense.
He could be a generational talent, as some people think.
However, it might take some time before Wembanyama and the Spurs are really prepared to make a long postseason run and claim a Finals victory.
Even with deep talent, teams don’t become championship contenders overnight.
The Spurs were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, that is how they were able to draft Wembanyama.
It’ll take some time before they are truly competitive in a huge way again.
Expectations about Wembanyama are large and there will be some people who criticize him and the team if they don’t find a lot of success straight away.
But Wembanyama knows that all of this takes time and the rise to true greatness is sometimes stubbornly slow.
However, he is prepared for the long road ahead and is confident that eventually, his team will win it all.
Greatness for the Spurs is coming, Wembanyama says, it just might not be there immediately.
