All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu will have an eventful NFL free agency tour.
Insider Jordan Schultz shared that nine teams are interested in signing the 29-year-old defensive ace.
As NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported, one of those teams is the New Orleans Saints.

Rapoport tweeted, “Source: Free agent DB Tyrann Mathieu is heading in to the #Saints facility for a visit while he’s in New Orleans with family and friends. Nothing imminent. But one of the top players available will be at his first facility this offseason.”
The Saints may play the emotional card during Mathieu’s visit because he is a New Orleans native.
Joining the NFL was his first venture outside New Orleans and Louisiana.
He was born in The Big Easy and played high school football at St. Augustine.
Mathieu attended college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
His connection with the Saints is profound that he had a tribute to Drew Brees when the longtime quarterback retired after the 2020 season.
Aside from the Saints, other teams interested in acquiring Mathieu are the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, and Pittsburgh Steelers might also bring him in for a visit.
The Saints Secondary Needs Help
The team brought in Marcus Maye and Daniel Sorensen to line up with the emerging C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
However, getting Mathieu will be a tremendous boost to their pass defense, especially against Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
Having Gardner-Johnson, Mathieu, Marshon Lattimore, and Paulson Adebo will help the Saints hold their ground against efficient passing attacks.
But if they are to sign him, the Saints must figure out their salary cap because he won’t come cheap.
As of writing, New Orleans has a $26 million cap space and they might need around $20 million for their draft picks and practice players.
