Everyone knows that professional basketball in the NBA is a young man’s game.
Yes, there are those like LeBron James who somehow turn back the hands of time again and again, but many of the guys who have the most power – and success – in the league are on the right side of 30.
Surprisingly, the two athletes who are performing the most in the league right now have been doing it for years.

At 34 years old, Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets has played the most so far this season, with 922 minutes.
Additionally, Kyle Lowry of the Miami Heat has put in 907 minutes at 36 years old.
It’s important to remember that these numbers were compiled before Durant’s game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, so you need to tack on an additional 36 minutes for him.
The bottom line is that these two guys are playing a lot – is this the right choice?
Lowry & Durant Draining The Clock
The fact that both Durant and Lowry are achieving the most minutes in the league is both surprising and not shocking at all.
It’s surprising because they are both in their mid-30s but not shocking because they are two highly-skilled performers.
This season, Durant has been averaging 29.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists with a great 55.5% from the field.
Lowry’s output has been 14.4 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists on 39.6% from the field.
Durant is trying to point his team in the right direction and make them truly competitive while Lowry is attempting to redeem himself after his first season in Miami, which was considered disappointing.
But should both of these guys get more time off?
If they hope to make the playoffs, the Nets and Heat will need all hands on deck, especially the hands of Durant and Lowry.
