Twins Open 2022 With A Dynamic Duo In The Lineup

We don’t know if they will make the playoffs or not, but we do know one thing: the Minnesota Twins will be extremely fun to watch in 2022.

Part of the reason why they will be so fun to watch is because they will have two of MLB’s most spectacular players: center fielder Byron Buxton and shortstop Carlos Correa.

“@Twins fans are gonna enjoy having @OfficialBuck103 and @TeamCJCorrea in their lineup,” MLB’s official Twitter account wrote on Tuesday, while showing a clip with home runs of both stars.

During the offseason, Buxton signed a seven-year, $100 million extension that will keep him in Minneapolis through 2028.

On the other hand, Correa, who played his whole MLB career to this point with the Houston Astros, inked a three-year, $105.3 million pact just a few weeks ago, as one of the most coveted free agents in the market.

Correa will be able to opt out of his deal after the first and second seasons, but if the best-case scenario presents itself and Minnesota makes it into October, he might want to stay.

Minnesota Needs Both Stars Healthy To Reach The Playoffs

What’s the best-case scenario for the Twins?

For starters, healthy seasons from both Buxton and Correa: both have been injury risks at different points of their careers, especially Buxton.

When they are healthy, however, they can both mash.

Correa is coming off a strong season in which he hit 26 home runs, scored 104 runs, and drove in 92 RBI while slashing .279/.366/.485.

Oh, and he won both the Gold and Platinum Gloves.

As impressive as Correa is, Buxton may be better.

The oft-injured star slashed .306/.358/.647 with 19 home runs and 50 runs scored in just 61 games played.

He also plays elite defense in center field.
