When Minnesota Twins starter Tyler Mahle was forced to leave Wednesday’s start after just 2.1 innings, the organization and its fans started to worry about his health.
His situation became particularly concerning when it was revealed he was removed with right shoulder fatigue.
Mahle suffered a bout of shoulder soreness last month, so everybody was fearing the worst in Minnesota.
He was sent for an MRI to rule out any structural damage.
The results of the test were cause of joy and celebration in the Twins’ inner circle, because it didn’t reveal anything.
“The #MNTwins say that Tyler Mahle’s MRI came back clean. He will remain day to day with what the team is describing as “general soreness and fatigue,” MLB.com’s Do-Hyoung Park tweeted.

Mahle Received Good News, But He Is Not Out Of The Woods Yet
Despite receiving some good news regarding the health of his shoulder, the phrase “general soreness and fatigue” means that he likely won’t be available in the short-term.
The Twins badly need an arm like his for the stretch run, as they are just one game removed from first place in the AL Central.
However, if Mahle’s arm is not fully healthy, they likely won’t rush his recovery process.
Still, the negative MRI can be viewed as a positive development.
The Twins are yet to announce their plans with their trade acquisition, but a trip to the injured list remains very much a possibility, especially considering the fact he is likely to miss his next scheduled start.
Mahle has a 4.17 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP in 22 starts this season, covering 118.2 innings.
By virtue of playing most of the year with the Cincinnati Reds, his record is 6-7.
He has logged 126 strikeouts and remains a very competitive pitcher when healthy.
