The Minnesota Twins put together a solid team entering the 2022 season, signing Carlos Correa and trading for Sonny Gray, Gio Urshela, and Gary Sanchez.
They’ve taken advantage of the Chicago White Sox and their struggles this season, jumping out in front of the rest of the pack in the American League Central division.
They still lead the division and have played great baseball to this point, but one team in particular has given them fits.
The Cleveland Guardians are that team.
Minnesota has had multiple opportunities to beat them and have fallen apart, with last night being the most recent example.
Twins insider Aaron Gleeman tweeted some stats that might concern Twins fans.
In the #MNTwins last four losses to Cleveland they had win probabilities as high as 92%, 98%, 82%, and 95%.
If the Twins had won all four, they'd be up 10.0 games in the AL Central. Even winning three of four would have meant leading by 8.0 games.
Instead they lead by only 2.0.

Missed Opportunities
Obviously, the Twins are in good shape right now, as they still lead the division.
However, the stats shown in the tweet will concern their fans a little bit.
In the last four losses to the Guardians, they have had win probabilities in the 90s and have been close to sealing the deal.
However, they have not been able to do that.
As a result, they’ve missed a huge opportunity to take command of the AL Central and put the Guardians in the rearview mirror.
That doesn’t mean that there won’t be more opportunities, but right now, things are a little tight within the division and they’ve missed a chance.
The Twins have another chance today to increase their lead and win the series against Cleveland, but they still could be up by as many as 10 games if they had just finished the job in the previous games.
Again, there will be other opportunities, but it has to be frustrating for Twins fans to know that they’ve missed so many chances to take command.
