The Minnesota Twins called up top prospect Royce Lewis after Carlos Correa went on the injured list with a wrist injury.
The 22-year-old shortstop provided a little bit of a spark while Correa was out, hitting .308 with two home runs and 5 RBI in 39 at-bats.
He also had a respectable .889 OPS.
However, Correa is making his return today and was recently activated from the 10-Day injured list.
In a corresponding move, the Twins sent Lewis back down to Triple-A St. Paul.
Twins insider Dan Hayes broke the news last night, announcing Correa’s activation and Lewis’ demotion in a tweet.
He also announced that Lewis will get the opportunity to play multiple positions down at Triple-A.
Carlos Correa will be activated tomorrow. Royce Lewis will be optioned to Triple-A. #MNTwins

Lewis Goes Down
Lewis sure made his presence felt with the Twins and is a key piece for the future, so it’s good that the Twins are going to give him the opportunity to play other positions in the minors.
That way, when he comes back, the Twins can have both him and Correa in the same lineup.
Correa being back is a huge boost for the Twins, who have gotten off to a solid start in 2022, leading the AL Central division.
When Lewis returns and the Twins can have both him and Correa in their lineup, the offense should get somewhat of a boost.
It is disappointing though that he’s been sent down.
He was off to a good start.
But you’ve got to make room for Correa and hopefully Lewis won’t be down in the minors for too long.
Given his start, it’s hard to imagine him spending much time down at Triple-A.
We’ll see what the Twins ultimately decide to do.
