The Miami Dolphins put the NFL on notice during their first game of the 2023 season.
They defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in a close contest, largely due to the strength of their offense.
Tua Tagovailoa threw for 466 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, a record-breaking affair.
According to the NFL on CBS, this was the third-highest Week 1 performance by a QB in NFL history since the merger.

His 466 yards trailed just Tom Brady and fellow Dolphin Dan Marino on this historic list.
Tagovailoa was given mixed reviews throughout the offseason.
Some analysts believed he would struggle after coming back from his concussions, while others were confident in his abilities.
After this record-breaking game, he left little doubt that he could be the Dolphins’ franchise QB moving forward.
215 of Tagovailoa’s yards went to Tyreek Hill, who exploded for 11 receptions and two touchdowns.
This was Hill’s second-best single-game performance.
His best career game was during the 2020 season, where Hill had 269 receiving yards with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Tagovailoa and Hill started the season with strong individual performances.
Ultimately, the thing they care most about is winning, and after this close game, they are looking to do a lot more of that moving forward.
The Dolphins have a lot of work to do if they’d like to be a top AFC team.
It is crowded at the top, and several teams have elite players on both sides of the ball.
If Tagovailoa and Hill continue this dominance it will be difficult for opposing defenses to stop this team.
