The Boston Red Sox and their fans were holding their breath last night after their marquee offseason addition, second baseman Trevor Story, was hit in the helmet by a 93-mph fastball.
Story needed a minute to recover, but fortunately, he was able to stay in the game.
The Red Sox lost to the Toronto Blue Jays by a final score of 6-1 and fell to 6-6 on the year.
If there was any doubt about Story’s availability for today’s series finale, that has all been put to rest, as he will be in the Red Sox starting lineup hitting leadoff and starting at second base.

Story Okay After HBP
It’s good to see him back in the lineup.
Anytime a 93-mph pitch hits a player in the head, there’s a great deal of concern regarding that player’s health, but it appears that Story is all good and ready to go for today’s game.
In his first 30 at-bats with the Red Sox, Story is hitting .233 with no home runs and four RBIs.
The Red Sox sit one game behind the Blue Jays and the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East division and a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who sit in third place.
But it’s nice that Story appears to be okay and good to go for this afternoon’s game.
Losing Story for any amount of time would have been a tough blow for the Red Sox, but it appears that everything has checked out fine for their new slugger.
We’ll see how Story responds to this challenge and how he performs on the field one day after the scare.
At least he’s back in the starting lineup.
