Trevor Lawrence knew he was going to be drafted at No. 1 overall in 2021.
The only question was where he would end up.
The Jacksonville Jaguars tanked enough to land that top pick and took Lawrence, pairing him with legendary college head coach Urban Meyer.
As we know, that was an epic disaster.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan then seemed to make matters worse this offseason by dragging his feet when hiring a head coach.
All that stress came to an end Thursday night when the team hired Doug Pederson.
This gives Lawrence a Super Bowl winning head coach to work with after what was nearly a wasted season in 2021.
The young quarterback shared his excitement via a tweet.
Let’s get to work💪🏼 – Welcome to #DUUUVAL ! Great days ahead. https://t.co/1Mburp2ZCp

“Let’s get to work – Welcome to #DUUUVAL! Great days ahead.”
Lawerence joins Jaguars fans in general with his optimism about the new hire.
Not An Ideal Start To A Career
The quarterback was drafted to the worst team in the NFL and was not given much help by Meyer.
How often does a rookie quarterback have to speak about his head coach causing drama off the field?
The Jaguars were one big walking distraction under Meyer and it affected the play on the field.
Lawrence started all 17 games and finished with 12 passing touchdowns.
He also led the NFL with 17 interceptions.
Congratulations to Doug Pederson on getting the Jaguars job. Trevor Lawrence is very fortunate. Doug will help him reach his enormous potential.

But he now gets to work with a former NFL quarterback who guided the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl glory with Nick Foles under center.
There is a knock against Pederson for his relationship with Carson Wentz.
But he was proven right when the Eagles traded the quarterback to the Indianapolis Colts.
The key thing here is that coach and quarterback can get to work without any distractions.
That was just not possible with Meyer and Lawrence can get back to focusing on football again.
