The World Baseball Classic will get underway in less than a week.
The event was cancelled that year due to COVID-19.
But this year, we can finally say that the WBC is back and that some exciting action awaits us.
Team USA won the title in 2017 and will be looking to defend that title this year.
One player in particular has high hopes for the Classic.
Trea Turner, who was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies, commented on the event, comparing it to the excitement of the World Cup and expressing his desire to experience something similar to that in baseball.

The WBC certainly brings a lot of excitement to the game.
The World Cup of course always brings excitement around the world.
Turner here is hoping that he and his fellow MLB stars can provide that in their own way this year with the WBC.
But this is essentially baseball’s opportunity to generate such excitement.
The Classic has not been played in six years.
The 2017 WBC was full of exciting moments and fun stories.
Baseball was robbed of the opportunity to experience that again in 2021 due to the pandemic.
But with the pandemic waning, it’s time to get back to action.
Fans all around the world will be excited to see each country’s respective national teams go at it again to see which nation truly has the best and most elite baseball talent across the globe.
