Arizona Diamondbacks‘ manager Torey Lovullo has been at the helm since he took over in 2017, leading the team to a 93-69 finish and taking them to the postseason for the first time since 2011.
Lovullo’s first three seasons in Arizona were winning seasons before the team fell on hard times.
Regardless, he’s been a good fit as manager of the D’Backs.
He has the team off to a 17-14 start as they sit just 4.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
And with yesterday’s win, he became the winningest manager in D’Backs history.
The Diamondbacks tweeted about Lovullo’s accomplishment, congratulating him on his 354th career win.

Lovullo Stands Alone
The Diamondbacks are a small market team that hasn’t always been very successful, but Lovullo has earned a special place in the team’s history.
To be the winningest manager in a team’s history is an impressive accomplishment.
Kirk Gibson previously held the record, but Lovullo has caught him and passed him.
For him to pass a great such as Gibson is also a nice little feat.
The Diamondbacks have performed surprisingly well in 2022.
Again, they aren’t that far back of the Dodgers for the top spot.
Perhaps another surprise run is in store for them, similar to that of 2017, when Arizona captured the top National League Wild Card spot and made it all the way to the NLDS.
Lovullo has changed this team’s fortunes before, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for him to do it again, especially now that he stands alone as the winningest manager in franchise history.
We’ll see if he can continue to steer the team in the right direction.
