New York Yankees pitcher and top prospect Luis Gil recently had his 2022 season cut short due to a torn UCL that required Tommy John elbow surgery.
He was forced to exit his start in Triple-A last week after feeling pain in his elbow.
Gil is one of a few Yankees pitchers who have had their season end early because of an elbow injury, with Chad Green being the other one.
Gil underwent surgery on his elbow yesterday.
Following the surgery, Gil took to Twitter to inform Yankees fans that the surgery went well, expressing his desire to have a speedy recovery and give it his all as he works his way back from his injury.
hello Fans I am very excited because the operation was a success thank God everything went as God wanted it I am very grateful to God and I want to tell him that I will give 101% of myself so that the recovery goes better than expected in the name of God #Amén 🙏❤️

Gil Feeling Good After Surgery
It’s good to see that the surgery was a success, and that Gil feels good about where things stand right now.
One can imagine that he is anxious to begin his recovery and get going again.
This is a guy with an extremely bright future and somebody who will be a major piece for the Yankees going forward.
He’s ready to kick it into gear again and come back stronger after losing his 2022 season.
Tommy John surgery is usually a 12–15-month recovery process, so it’ll take him some time for sure.
But if he’s feeling good about the way things went, then that is a good sign for both him and the Yankees as the recovery process looms.
It remains to be seen if Gil will be ready to go to start the 2023 season.
His 2022 is over and now he is set to embark on a rehab journey.
We’ll see when he makes his way back and how the recovery process goes.
