The backflip of Ozzie Smith is one of the most famous pregame routines of all time.
The former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop would always do a backflip as he took his position before each game, much to the delight of Cardinals fans.
Few, if any can match what “The Wizard” did in terms of his success at the Major League level or his backflip.
However, one top shortstop prospect may have the backflip down cold.
Luther Ellis, who recently took part in the MLB Dream Series, can seemingly mimic Smith’s backflip without even breaking a sweat.
During the Dream Series, he got a chance to speak with Harold Reynolds of MLB Network, who demanded that he show off his backflip.

Ellis seemingly has it down pat.
When asked by Reynolds of who he tries to emulate when on the field, Ellis spoke of Tim Anderson and Francisco Lindor.
However, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t try to emulate some of what Smith could do.
Smith is obviously best remembered for his signature backflip every time he took the field.
So if somebody can match that, it’s easy to assume that they have a bright future.
And Ellis certainly does have a bright future.
He can put on a clinic defensively, he has a good arm, and can hit for some power as well.
Power wasn’t really Smith’s strong suit, although he was a great hitter in his own right.
But when somebody is able to copy his backflip to a tee, it’s hard not to be impressed.
