The NFL Draft is an annual mystery.
While mock drafts are aplenty, the decision still rests on the people inside the war rooms.
Therefore, a player that ranks high with another team might not receive the same rating from another.
However, all NFL teams seem to agree that the 2022 quarterback class doesn’t spark much interest.
But even then, teams have invited these quarterbacks for visits because they might have missed something from the Combine and the Pro Days.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared the whereabouts of some top quarterback prospects during the last day of their team visits.
Today is the last day of Top 30 pre-draft visits. Among the notables:
— #OleMiss QB Matt Corral visits the #Falcons.
— #Liberty QB Malik Willis visits the #Steelers.
— #Pitt QB Kenny Pickett visits the #Lions. https://t.co/M9fFY4rdnX— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 20, 2022
Rapoport shares that Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral will visit the Atlanta Falcons.
Liberty’s dynamic play-caller Malik Willis will also meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Finally, Pittsburgh Panthers’ Kenny Pickett will be with the Detroit Lions.
What Goes On During These Visits?
Potentially, it’s more about knowing what’s on the player’s mind.
The team would like to know him better, especially his football wisdom.
Seeing first-hand how the prospect thinks might make or break their impression of him.
That interrogation made a difference in the 1998 NFL Draft when the Indianapolis Colts held the first overall pick.
Back then, Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf were equally-talented prospects.
However, Manning’s responses made him more likely to become a franchise quarterback.
Pickett, Corral, and Willis have shown their physical skills to these teams.
Therefore, it’s time to share their mind with a squad that they might suit up for.
Think of it as a subtle opportunity for those quarterbacks to campaign for themselves.
After all, perception about a particular person changes after more exposure.
