It only took 40 days until Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady ended his retirement.
While Bruce Arians’ resignation as head coach is often associated with his return, the 44-year-old quarterback denied the connection and maintained the good relationship between them.
However, there’s no indication that Brady should have hung up his cleats for good.
After all, he continues to dominate a league full of athletes that might not have been born when he started playing.
His 2021 numbers of 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns aren’t an indication of a player who is slowing down.
In fact, it looks like he’s getting better as he gets older.
But Brady himself revealed the reason for playing in his 23rd NFL season.
On the @dpshow, Tom Brady was asked about the day he decided to come back: "I think I'm part crazy, I think that's the reality." #Bucs

Tampa Bay Times journalist Joey Knight tweeted, “On the@dpshow, Tom Brady was asked about the day he decided to come back: ‘I think I’m part crazy, I think that’s the reality.’ #Bucs.”
Putting his body on the line for another grueling season is indeed crazy.
He has nothing left to prove in the game and should be enjoying more time with his family.
Instead, he might want to punish himself by fielding hits from pass rushers.
Still, it’s tough to take out the competitive spirit from him, especially since football has been his refuge for most of his life.
Will Brady Play Beyond 2022?
No one knows the answer to that question and even Brady hasn’t made a decision.
All we know is that Brady will be chasing his eighth Super Bowl title and has a team that can get it done.
However, he is also in the last year of his contract, making him a free agent after 2022.
Will he sign another deal to keep on playing?
Initially, his goal was to play until he was 45 years old and that’s within striking distance.
But could he make a play at George Blanda who played until he was 48 years old?
Only time can tell.
