The New York Giants season came to a disappointing and heartbreaking end.
It’s not like they couldn’t lose to the Philadelphia Eagles — arguably the biggest juggernaut in the NFL this season — but how they lost.
Daniel Jones looked completely over his head, regressing after posting the best season of his career and once again raising questions about his ability to lead the franchise going forward.
However, NFL insider Tiki Barber believes the Giants should go to great lengths to keep him in the Big Apple for the future, going as far as to predict he’ll become a top-10 quarterback:
“Daniel Jones is in a situation right now with the Giants, Mike Kafka, more importantly, Brian Daboll, where he is going to be coached into a top-10 quarterback,” Tiki said. “I believe that. I truly believe that, maybe that’s because I have blind faith in the Giants coaching staff. But I also know because of his skillset. He’s 6-foot-5, he’s big, doesn’t have to move out of the pocket to see crossing routes and throws and digs over the middle. He can stand right where he needs to stand and deliver every single throw. And if he needs to run, he’ll go run. He had 700 yards and seven touchdowns this year.”
This is a game I’ll never forget

Barber explained how Brian Daboll was patient with Josh Allen in Buffalo.
Allen wasn’t that impressive in his first year in the league, yet Daboll helped him become a dual-threat quarterback and progressively helped him get better.
He now expects Daboll and Mike Kafka to replicate that formula with Jones, who’s also a solid QB when it comes to scrambling and making the most of his size and athleticism.
Of course, Jones doesn’t have Josh Allen’s arm strength or a superstar wideout such as Stefon Diggs running routes for him, but we did see plenty of improvement this season.
The Giants declined Jones’ fifth-year option last off-season, so he’s technically free to negotiate with other teams and find a new home.
But truth be told, Daboll’s tutelage might be just what he needs to finally silence his critics, so it seems like both parties will just agree to run it back.
